...and young technicians aged 12 – 18!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE SINGING, DANCING AND PERFORMING TO JOIN OUR ENSEMBLE!

The Ensemble appear in many of the scenes of Annie and you will be very busy each day learning the dances and songs from the show.

Characters include orphans, New Yorkers and the Warbucks House Team. Of course, acting is vital and it’s the ensemble who will make each scene come alive through making each scene feel more realistic. We’ll teach you the art of ‘rhubarbing’ and ‘bubbling’ and as rehearsals progress there will be multiple opportunities for our ensemble to take on featured roles or responsibilities – both speaking and not.

Most importantly, the Elgiva Youth Theatre and Community team are dedicated to making sure everyone coming to the Summer Youth project has the most amazing time! We promise a lot of fun and a hugely rewarding experience for anyone who LOVES to perform – PLUS a professional show at the end complete with West End costumes and stunning sets. It is going to be amazing!

ARE YOU MORE INTERESTED IN FILM-MAKING AND WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES?

We are giving young people aged between 12 – 18 years old, the opportunity to take part in the Summer Youth Project behind the scenes and to create a short film!

You will learn about the technical side of theatre: lighting design, sound design, props, set and stage management. You will experience first-hand the process of getting a musical ready to be performed from a technical point of view and be a part of the production team for the performances.

Alongside, you will work together to produce your own mini-movie that will be screened as part of the final performances.

An exciting experience to be part of a production team in a professional theatre and gain experience in film-making. For more information please contact Danielle: youththeatre@elgiva.com.

The tech team places are strictly limited and will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Summer Youth Project will be performing the hit musical, Annie Jr.

Our summer musical project gives young people aged 7 – 18 years the opportunity to work together for 2 weeks under the supervision of a highly-skilled professional creative team to rehearse and perform in a professional theatre, The Elgiva! These intensive rehearsal periods, full of singing, dancing and acting, are a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the performing arts and build confidence, whilst making new friends!

We have opportunities for performers and for technical roles in the company. There is a fee to take part in the project with sibling discounts available and auditions are free. The auditions will be fun and light-hearted, giving every child the opportunity to get involved.

The aim of the Summer Youth Project is to give local young people the unique opportunity to actively engage in performance and theatre. For two weeks, the theatre will be bustling with bubbling enthusiasm of children working hard learning dance routines, practising songs, making set and preparing to perform their socks off! We hope the project will inspire the cast and young technicians, plus it’s a great way to keep them active for two weeks of the summer holiday!

WHAT IS ANNIE JR THE MUSICAL ABOUT?

With fantastic hit musical numbers including “Tomorrow” and “It’s The Hard Knock Life”, Annie is one of the most loved musicals of the past 50 years!

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable dog named Sandy.
