AMERINDIS hosts a very special, exclusive DHUN event, highlighting and showcasing talented local Indians, and promoting Indian art and culture.

Keeping in mind India’s diversity, Amerindis is delighted to welcome talented performers with ties to various regions of India, but who have lived in Buckinghamshire for a long time to the Elgiva stage.

The following will be part of the event.

Bharatnatyam

One of the most well-known and likely earliest forms of Indian classical dance is bharatnatyam. It is regarded as the foundation of numerous Indian classical dance styles.  Smt. Jayashree Sundaresan, an Amersham resident with 30 years of dancing experience, will perform this. Her captivating performances have enthralled audiences in the UK and India. She is the director of the Alankara School of Dance.

Tabla and Bansuri Jugalbandi (Duet)

Jugalbandi is a performance in Indian classical music that features a duet, between two solo musicians.

The Bansuri is the most intricate yet melodic woodwind musical instrument with significant religious significance, whereas the Tabla is the most well-known percussion instrument in north India.  They both complement each other very well, and the performance will be riveting.

Probuddha Basu is a progressive Bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) professional practising Hindustani classical music for over 20 years. He has received taleem in raga music under the tutelage of Shri Bhargav Rao (disciple of Pt. Nityanand Haldipur of the Mahiar Gharana), Shri Paramananda Roy (disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajay Chakraborty) and Clive Bell (at the Bhavan & Harrow Arts centre).

Since childhood, Probuddha has been passionate about Hindustani classical music and his initial training was learning to sing and play the harmonium. He has performed extensively since his early years and received several awards and accolades.

Probuddha is based in Amersham – actively promoting Hindustani classical music and teaching bansuri enthusiasts

Supremely talented Kedar Deokule has been playing table since 20 years. He has been trained in a fusion of Delhi and Benares Gharanas.

Some incredibly great musicians who are part of a well-known band INDRIA and perform all year long in different cities like Leeds, London, Cardiff, &c will provide the music for the singers.

Singing with live musicians

The singers like Shri Rajan Shegunshi are trained vocalist in Hindustani classical music. He has made a significant contribution to the UK and European art communities in order to assist cultural initiatives and spread Indian music abroad for over two decades.

To his credit, he was a finalist in a famous talent-hunt TV show Meri Awaz Suno on Star Plus (in the late 1990s) and has performed in music shows in presence of celebrities like OP Nayyar, Shankar Mahadevan and Nida Fazli, to mention a few.

Shri Mandar sane, a highly passionate vocalist who has performed extensively in India as part of a YUVA band will also be joining us.

Other vocalists include Shree Vaibhav Thakkar (a second-place finisher who idolises Kumar Sanu). Female singers involve Smt. Smita Barua and Smt. Shivani Gollapalli who has been 1st runner-up in UK Bollywood Idol 2022.
