Introducing The Knights of Harmony

A friendly and welcoming group who enjoy each other’s company and four-part harmony
Knights of Harmony in full voice

Time to sing, time to celebrate!

The Knights of Harmony is a friendly and welcoming bunch of men of all ages that enjoy each other’s company and the sound the male voice can achieve in a cappella four-part harmony. They have a repertoire that that among other genres, includes, Rock and Roll, Doo Wap, Music Theatre, Disney, Love songs, and as it’s his 80th birthday the Bob Dylan hit, ‘Make you Feel my Love’ though the younger members think it’s a Bryan Ferry song, and the youngest enjoy having Adele in the repertoire.

As we emerge from lockdown The Knights are once again enjoying the physical and mental health benefits that singing affords, as well as at last seeing each other in person again. After 61 weeks of zoom it is an absolute joy to all be ‘In a-chord with each other’.

The group’s normal rehearsal venue is the White Hill Centre on a Thursday evening but until the government allows singing indoors again, The Knights are grateful for the support offered by Chesham United Football Club, for the use of their Meadow Park home, the White Hill Centre for use of their carpark on a weekend and the patience of the parents dropping off dancers to their Saturday morning classes.

The Knights are constantly on the lookout for new members and you can visit or join them at any time of the year; each September they run a free ‘Time to Sing’ course over a six week period, where they throw their doors open to as many men as they can fit into the room. The more the merrier, as The Knights hope to welcome and introduce as many as possible to the joys of singing a cappella. Along with the rest of the chorus, you’ll learn a bit of singing technique, posture, breathing, vocal exercises and two songs that as part of the chorus you’ll be able to sing to your nearest and dearest at the end of the course.

Best barbershop

When you hear them out and about over the next few weeks and months you’ll be listening to some of their newest members who because of lockdown haven’t sung with them in front of an audience before. They are a great asset, and everyone’s going to have a ball. Come along and see them at The Elgiva, and hopefully a few more nights when there is music on the billboard.

They’ll also be in a few pubs, cafés, and outside the odd supermarket and Tube station, near you. They’ll be on Chiltern Voice Community Radio too, so have a look at, and listen to, what they do.

The Knights also running Time to Sing courses at the White Hill Centre – check their website for details!
