Panda Players, your local society that staged acclaimed The Addams Family last March, now brings their latest production, Sweet Charity, to the Elgiva.
Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, who always tries to look on the bright side of life, despite working in a rundown dance hall and contending with a seemingly endless run of bad dates.
Determined to find love, Charity falls for suave actor Vittorio Vidal, but he remains in love with his girlfriend Ursula. However, when Charity finds herself stuck in an elevator with the reserved Oscar Lindquist, it turns out that she may have finally met her love.
With a tuneful, groovy, 1960s score including well known songs Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, I’m A Brass Band and Rhythm Of Life, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humour and heartbreak of life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.
