The essence of Sally Bassett’s work is its energy, vitality and colour.
Inspiration for Sally’s exhibition comes from the raw power and shifting moods of the Cornish sea – from the surge of waves against the rocks to the quiet pulse of tidal pools and the life that clings to the coastline. The Mariner’s Eye – Rage of the Sea explores the wildness and beauty of the ocean, its constant motion and the ever-changing relationship between land, water and those who live by it and work on it. Through her work, Sally seeks to capture both the ferocity and the fragile splendour of these maritime worlds.
Her work progresses in several mediums including acrylic on board and canvas, mixed multi media collage, charcoal on paper and steam fix dye on silk.
Her art work commences with observational drawings, notes and gouache sketches which are collected in a small sketch book which she always always with her.
Art available to purchase!
Original artworks are individually priced.

Sally Bassett lives and works in the small village of Aldbury in the Chilterns but frequently visits the West Country and Cornwall where the energy and excitement of the sea keep her painting seascapes.
After a number of years in teaching Sally took time out to take an hours degree in Fine Art which she completed successfully.
