Carl Johns
Silly Simon
It’s magical panto time again and Carl is delighted to be here playing the part of Silly Simon in this year’s fantastic fun filled extravaganza, Jack and the Beanstalk.
Carl is no stranger to pantomime, this being his 31st and he has played myriad parts including Aladdin, Smee, Peter Pan, Muddles and Wishee Washee.
He said: “I love panto; it’s a magical time of year, and we are definitely going to have some fun this year with the fantastic cast of performers!”
Carl started his career as a dancer, becoming three times world freestyle champion; he went on to do stand-up comedy and presenting.
Carl has travelled the world as a guest presenter hosting numerous gameshows he has written for P&O cruises. If you holiday in the UK, you may have seen one of his gameshows like Let’s Get Quizical, Pants Or Prizes, Captain Clueless, Don’t Lose Your Head, Big Pound Runaround and many others at all the major UK holiday resorts. He has also written, produced, directed his own pantos and production shows including The Big Night Out and One Big Night. Also he has toured UK theatres as a co-host in The Basil Brush Show and Otis The Aardvark.
Paul Vates
Dame Tilly Trott
“Chesham’s very own” Paul was actually born in Leeds and trained at the East 15 Acting School. Over the years he has done an awful lot of television, theatre, voiceovers and comedy. On stage he has played a diverse range of characters covering the dramatic to the outrageous, everything from Torvald Helmer in Ibsen’s A Doll’s House to being Postman Pat in a national UK tour of The All New Adventures of Postman Pat. His favourite Shakespeare clowns have seen him perform as Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Feste in Twelfth Night. He was the superhero Mathsman in two award-winning BBC TV series of Megamaths.
Last year, he had an absolute ball playing Widow Twankey in The Elgiva’s Aladdin and can’t wait to be Dame Tilly Trott this year. AND because he’s reached a ‘special’ age, he has entered the London Marathon (for one performance only!!!) and will be running next April for Asthma + Lung UK. Should you wish to encourage him along, feel free to donate HERE.

Adam Pritchard

King Willy the Umteenth
Adam is so excited to be back at The Elgiva this year appearing as the role of King Willy! In 2023 he played the Prince in Cinderella and this time he is a KING! #upgrade
Since his last appearance here at The Elgiva, Adam has, quite literally, travelled the globe. He worked as a Resident Lead Guest Vocalist aboard two different Holland America Line Ships and travelled from Fort Lauderdale in the US all the way around the world and back to Fort Lauderdale.
Last Christmas he spent the day in Honolulu, Hawaii, but nowhere tops the Christmas season back home in the UK! This year he plans to spend the big day curled up on the sofa with his beautiful Labrador/Springer, Poppy, spending some quality time with his loved ones and having a cracking panto season here in CHESHAM!
Adam loves Panto because he gets to bring out his best dad jokes and hear the groans of the mums and dads in the audience as he laughs at his own jokes.
In his spare time, you can catch Adam walking his dog (or rather his dog walking him) or playing his absolute favourite game of all time… Dungeons and Dragons!
Adam is pleased to report his belief in Santa hasn’t wavered in nearly 24 years and he’s hoping that this year he might bring him a new pack of tennis balls his my dog (preferably squeaky) and a new set of dice for his D&D campaign!
Adam trained at the University of Chichester Conservatoire, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre Performance.
Selected credits include Resident Lead Guest Vocalist (Holland America Line World Cruise 2024/2025), Prince Charming in Cinderella and Lead Vocalist (Viking Cruises Norway and Mediterranean, 2022–2023).
