With covid restrictions lifting, Chiltern Music Therapy’s community group, Silver Singers, is back in person at the Elgiva.
The group is open to all older adults, including those with age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or Dementia. With an opportunity to purchase tea and cake in the Elgiva café beforehand, Silver Singers provides a supportive and fully inclusive environment, with no previous musical experience necessary. The choir aims to connect people together through music and singing and improve the lives of those socially isolated in the community.
Silver Singers in Chesham had been successfully running for over five years until covid hit. They are delighted to be able to return to the Elgiva Theatre in a covid-secure way for current and new members to sing and socialise together.
One of the group members commented on Silver Singers returning:
“Being back with my fellow Silver Singers has given me such a lift! It gives me such a boost to be able to sing in a group and to chat and laugh about all the stories we share. It’s most definitely the highlight of my week.”
Another said: “I sold my car but every Monday, I get on my scooter and ride 20 minutes to get to Silver Singers. It’s such a joy to sing together again, I have missed it.”

Eleanor Donnebaum, Chiltern’s Silver Singers leader, says of connecting again in person with members of the local community: “I am so happy that Silver Singers are able to meet again. Being able to run face to face singing groups is just wonderful and so beneficial for everyone involved. It just makes us all smile!”
Silver Singers takes place weekly at 11am-12noon on Mondays at The Elgvia.
It costs £3.50 to attend. Carers go free.
